Hernan Lander employs visions of modern art and creative forms of architecture in his designs. Since his beginnings at Altos De Chavon in the Dominican Republic, he was recognized with the Silver and Amber Thimble and was awarded a full scholarship to study at Parsons New School for Design. During his studies, Hernan won the Silver Thimble for menswear before he finished his junior year.

Before graduating, Hernan worked for many prominent New York designers (such as Velasco Couture) where he collaborated with names as Rogelio Velasco, Proenza Schouler and Ralph Lauren. He was a finalist for the Gap competition (2007), and won first place in the Nordstrom Competition (2007) where his first collection was produced and sold during the spring/summer 2008. Hernan Lander was nominated as Designer of the Year at Parsons School of Design and won the Gold Thimble during his senior year of his studies. Hernan had been working for Donna Karan until December of 2008 when he decided to start his own collection.

He has shown his collection at the Edison Ballroom as part of iFashion Week SS2010 and at the OpenHouse Gallery during FW2010. TimeOut magazine nominated him as "Breakout Designer for 2010".

His creations have graced the figures of Ashanti, Toni Braxton, Iron Man's Olivia Munn, Twilight's Eclipse actress Julia Jones as well as those of Miss Universe, Miss USA and Miss Dominican Republic. Pieces of his collection have also been featured in the video clips of The Valkyrias and Melaney Fiona and the season finale of Model Latina Season 3.

Hernan is currently working tirelessly on his show for New York Fashion Week spring/summer 2011.
